CicloBono is a financial incentive that rewards you with €0.02 per kilometer—whether you drive or ride—for the energy savings you generate by carpooling.
Log your shared car journeys in the app to any destination in Spain. Your balance builds in your wallet and becomes available once verification and certification are complete.
At Ciclogreen, we measure and verify energy savings to generate Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs). Energy companies acquire these certificates through the CAE system, and their sale funds the financial incentive. Once your trips are certified, you can receive the money earned by carpooling.
- Open the Ciclogreen app and tap “CicloBono” from your profile.
- Verify your phone number and identity by following the instructions.
- Accept the terms and activate your bonus to start earning money by carpooling.
Go to My profile > CicloBono > Verify identity, scan both sides of your Spanish national ID card (DNI), foreigner ID card (NIE), or driver’s license, and take a selfie by following the instructions.
The process takes less than a minute and you only need to do it once.
Every shared car journey generates energy savings that Ciclogreen can certify. To certify your savings and receive the financial incentive, complete these three steps:
- Enter your personal information (DNI/NIE, name, and phone number).
- Enter your vehicle’s license plate number if you are a driver.
- Log your trips as either a passenger or a driver.
At Ciclogreen, we log and certify all the savings generated and then sell them to energy companies. This means you can earn more than €1,000 a year from your shared trips. It’s that simple: carpool, save energy, and earn with CicloBono.
To redeem your balance, check the type of balance shown in your wallet:
- Available balance: includes amounts from journeys already certified and from the “Invite a friend” promotion. You can redeem it when you reach a minimum of €10 and meet the conditions applicable to each amount.
- Balance pending certification: covers journeys whose energy savings are still undergoing CAE verification, issuance, and sale. This process must be completed before the balance becomes available.

The value of CicloBono depends on the Energy Savings Certificate (CAE) market. Each CAE represents 1 kWh of certified annual final energy savings. Its price varies according to market conditions and negotiations between market participants. Contributions to Spain’s National Energy Efficiency Fund can be used as a reference. Yes. You can also log sustainable trips made by walking, running, biking, electric scooter, or public transportation.
Each activity lets you earn ciclos. Once you reach 500 ciclos, you can enter the prize drawings available in active challenges.
Financial incentives received for carpooling may have tax implications. Their treatment depends on current law and individual circumstances. If you have questions about declaring them, consult a tax adviser.
For now, CicloBono is only available in Spain because it is based on Spain’s national Energy Savings Certificate (CAE) regulations.
The same trip can only be logged on one platform to generate a CAE. You can use different platforms for different trips, but you cannot log the same trip on more than one platform.
No. The balance associated with those journeys does not disappear: it appears as pending certification while the energy savings are checked and the CAE is processed. Once the applicable checks and conditions are completed, it can become available balance.
Recording a journey and displaying its estimated balance does not mean the energy savings are already certified. The file must be reviewed, verified by an accredited organization, and processed through the CAE system before the associated balance is released.
Journeys from 2026 may remain pending for weeks. The time varies depending on documentation, verification, administrative processing, and sale of the CAE. We cannot guarantee a redemption date for each journey.
No. Ciclogreen records journeys, gathers documentation, and follows up on the file; verification is carried out by an accredited organization. An obligated or delegated party requests issuance, and the competent regional authority decides on the CAE within the system coordinated by the Ministry. Ciclogreen cannot complete all these stages on its own.
The app asks you to scan your Spanish national ID (DNI) or foreigner identification document (NIE) and take a selfie to check your identity. Follow the instructions in the CicloBono section of your profile. This check is required to redeem the balance associated with the CAE system.
You can keep using the app, but you cannot redeem the balance linked to the CAE system until you complete identity verification and meet the remaining CicloBono terms.
New eligible journeys can continue to add energy savings pending certification. That amount will not be immediately redeemable either: each journey must pass the relevant checks and certification process.
Eligible shared journeys can generate energy savings. Ciclogreen gathers the evidence; an accredited verifier reviews the file; the competent regional authority can issue the CAEs, which are then registered and sold. Once these stages are completed, the validated balance can become available under the CicloBono terms.
The amount from that promotion is managed separately from the journey balance subject to the CAE system. If it meets the promotion’s conditions and appears as available, it can be redeemed once you reach the €10 minimum indicated in the app.
You can record shared journeys and participate in the mobility features and challenges active in the app. To decide whether CicloBono suits you, remember that the journey balance subject to CAEs requires certification before redemption.
The competent regional authority issues the CAE within the system coordinated by Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. CAEs are sold to obligated or delegated parties. The Ministry does not directly pay each user’s balance.
In the CicloBono model, revenue linked to those journeys depends on the savings being certified and sold. Ciclogreen therefore also has an interest in completing files as soon as possible. A pending balance appearing in the app does not mean payment has already been received.
Check in the app that your CicloBono and identity are verified and that your journey details are correct. If you need your case reviewed, contact the Ciclogreen help team and provide your account email and the affected journeys. We will explain the status we can confirm.
